November 6, 2011 - Retirement Celebration for Sophia Nibi
Hundreds of friends and faithful from throughout New England attended a reception in honor of Sophia Nibi upon her retirement after 28 years of diakonia to the Metropolis of Boston. His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios led a very emotional tribute to Sophia as he thanked her for almost 3 decades of service to the Metropolis as she served by his side since the beginning of his Archpastoral ministry as the Metropolitan of Boston. His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios began the evening's tribute to Sophia by recalling her "precision administration" of the Metropolis offices, including her loving service to the residents of the Philoxenia House. Representatives of the Metropolis Clergy, Philoptochos, Metropolis Council, and the Philoxenia House also shared brief reflections during the evening's celebration. The Greek Orthodox faithful from throughout New England join Metropolitan Methodios as we give thanks to God for Sophia and for the beautiful and unique way which she has touched each of us individually.
